The NOCO Hair management team are really excited to be able to offer our lovely guests discounts when you refer a friend to Clifton’s best hair salon!

The new Refer a Friend scheme launched in-salon gives existing guests the chance to enjoy deals and discounts when friends and family are referred.

And with Christmas on the way, now is the perfect time to recommend our Clifton hairdressers to your loved ones and best friends, so you can all enjoy our gorgeous hairdressing, hair care, and pampering in-salon.

The new NOCO Hair Refer A Friend scheme couldn’t be simpler – if you refer a friend to us, get them to quote your name and your unique number on the back of your Treat Card. They will then get £15 off their first cut or colour with us, and you’ll also get £15 your next visit to our award-winning Clifton hair salon.

When your referred friend books an appointment, you’ll be sent a text message to thank you. Your friend must have used their discount, however, before you can utilise yours.

Before your visit to our Clifton salon, please ask one of our reception team who will confirm that your friend has visited by checking their name against the text message you’ve received from us.

Each guest must have a Treat Card registered in their name to be able to refer a friend and enjoy these discounts as we head towards Christmas.

The new Refer A Friend scheme is also only available to guests who have been to see us for various hairdressing services before, and not new guests.

Each guest can refer up to five new people before you can use your discount: therefore, when you have referred five people (at £15 each time), you will received £75 off your next cut or colour.

The NOCO Hair Refer A Friend scheme cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers running in-salon, although if the Refer A Friend offer is better value than any other promotion you’re entitled to, please use it to your benefit.

If you have lost your NOCO Treat Card, we can give you another one. These key fobs are perfect to keep handy on your bunch of keys, so that you can mention it to someone when they comment on how amazing your hair looks!

All guests have a 12-month period to utilise their Refer A Friend discount from the date they receive a text message from us highlighting the offer is live.

Finally, the new Refer A Friend discount is only applicable for a reduction on the cost of a haircut or hair colouring appointment with our Clifton hairdressers. It cannot be used to purchase any hair products in-salon.

Our Clifton hairdressers at NOCO Hair have recently unveiled a stunning French Bob, one of our favourite seasonal haircuts in Bristol for Autumn.

As you can see from the in-salon example taken last week at our Whiteladies Road salon, the guest has been given an absolutely gorgeous Autumn hairstyle.

We recently wrote about the top Autumn hair trends in Clifton for 2020, and one of the hairstyles featured – find out more here.

A French Bob is essentially a Classic Bob with a modern twist. The difference between a French Bob and a Classic Bob at our award-winning Clifton salon is texture. A French Bob delivers a dishevelled texture with a softer feel.

A French Bob is often also styled by enhancing the wave with natural movement and a heated tong, and suits a variety of hair colours. It’s a gorgeous look which can be cheek chiselling, jaw skimming or shoulder swooping and the combination of a blunt edge with movement gives a superb finish, which many of our guests are now requesting as an Autumn haircut.

A French Bob will never go out of fashion, and our Clifton hairdressers deliver the look using primary shapes (square, circle, triangle) to enhance the natural features of each guest. By elongating the neck, a French Bob hairstyle can also take years off the overall guest, as well as making the face look slimmer.

Although a French Bob loses its initial shape after about eight weeks, it is easy to manage and works with curly or straight hair. It can be worn with or without a fringe, and is a gorgeous Autumn hairstyle for any hair colour.

We would advise guests with highlights going low down their back to avoid a French Bob hairstyle in Bristol, as it can look spotty and doesn’t work well.

A French Bob haircut at our Clifton hair salon costs between £55 and £95 depending on the stylist level providing the look, and takes around an hour in the chair.

At NOCO Hair, we also exclusively utilise a wrap-drying technique with guests opting for a French Bob. This adds extra shine, and wrap-drying keeps the hairdryer above the head, and with the use of a flat Denman brush, drying the roots for maximum shine. When the roots are dry, we finish off the ends.

We also recommend that guests utilise Oi shampoo and conditioner from our in-salon Davines range. We also recommend Oi Milk which contains Roucou Oil, an amazing hair conditioning product that gives a shine better than diamonds!

So, if you’re thinking about a low-maintenance, high-impact Autumn hairstyle in Bristol why not up-style to an amazing French Bob before Christmas.

The seasons are changing and our team of Bristol stylists have been seeing guests asking what are the Autumn 2020 hair trends in Clifton going to be.

Having reviewed the top hairstyles, popular hair colours, and favourite creative cuts for Autumn at our Clifton hair salon, we think the most on-trend hair colours in Bristol will be the following combinations:

  • Warm, rich glossy hair
  • Chocolate browns with caramel/toffee highlights
  • Ribbons of depth & warmer tones for Autumnal glow
  • Honey and soft apricot tones to warm up blondes
  • Some of our favourite hair colouring services for Autumn on Whiteladies Road will include the following:

Champagne Blonde

This classy, elegant colour is tasteful, super-wearable and sophisticated. It gives a combination of soft gold and ash tones to create a neutral colour with a stunning shine. It’s the perfect balance of warm and cool tones, and is suitable for all skin types. We use a bespoke formula to gloss the hair too.

New Natural

This Autumnal hair colour gives a lived-in feel with natural texture. This is our take on a seasonal balayage for Autumn, which gives added depth and richness as we head into the colder months. It’s almost a reverse balayage, whereby our Clifton hair colourists add an acidic colour range to the root area and blend down to melt away old highlights without changing the natural pigment. This gives the softest finish with no regrowth line and dazzling shine.

Ribbons of Richness

Multi-dimensional Autumn hair colour using complimentary tones. We take diagonal sliced panels of colour through the ends to add depth and dimension to hair. This splash of colour creates an optical illusion, whilst making hair look thicker and fuller. Our Clifton hair colouring team can blend in deep, burnt coppers and rich mahogany tones for brunettes or warm honey and apricot.

Moving onto the top haircuts for Autumn from our Clifton hairdressers, and we think the best creative cuts from our award-winning team will include:

French Bob

A classy, chic and elegant seasonal haircut, the French Bob is a classic Bob with a modern twist.

Cheek chiselling, jaw skimming or shoulder-swooping, this Autumn haircut can be adapted to suit any face shape and hair texture. The combination of a blunt edge with internal movement gives an incredible finish for our guests.

Modern Mullet

This is a textured, toned seasonal haircut from our Whiteladies Road hairdressers, and delivers volume, movement, face framing and soft tapered edges.

It’s an infinitely wearable Autumn haircut, and the rise in popularity of fringes is proven in this look. Tapered edges give a softer feel, with a 70s look, soft texture and a smart sexy choppy look for guests.

Finally, our Clifton hairstyling team are predicting that styling for Autumn 2020 in Bristol will centre upon selected hair accessories such as ribbons, scrunchies and head bands.

Low ponytails will be popular, with a 70s care-free mix of waves and undone texture proving to be a big hit in the run-up to Christmas. High gloss lux finish will be in demand, with lots of shine to finish guests’ hairstyling this Autumn.

Clifton hairdresser and co-founder of award-winning Whiteladies Road salon NOCO Hair Corey was asked to highlight the difference between hair lightening and hair colouring this week by a guest, so we thought it would be useful to write a News post on this topic as well.

Hair lightening and hair colouring are essentially highlights and lowlights, with highlights being lighter than a guest’s base hair colour, with lowlights being darker than a guest’s base colour.

Both hair lightening and hair colouring services at our Clifton salon are a great way to add movement and dimension to hair.

Highlights will brighten hair and add the illusion of volume, whilst lowlights create depth and boost contrast in hair.

Some of the favourite hair lightening techniques utilised by our Whiteladies Road hair colourists include:

  1. Balayage Highlights: this is a traditional woven highlight, paired with the balayage technique of surface painting and mixing up to the root, for a seamless blend and a soft grow-out.
  2. Freehand Highlights: no foil technique is used here, to give a super natural result. The hair is woven, painted, and left to develop in the open air. This hair lightening technique is perfect for creating a soft, sun-kissed look.
  3. Babylights & Strandlights: Babylights are finer than traditional highlights, and used at our Clifton hair salon for a more natural non-striped result and a softer re-growth. Strandlights are the finest of highlights, picking out strands of hair, which create a glistening of colour. This is a great technique for topping up a balayage, or brightening up the top part of the hair where the sun will catch it, giving a natural result and a soft re-growth.

The favourite hair colouring techniques used at NOCO Hair include:

  1. Root touch-up and all-over colour: this is perfect for when a permanent colour is needed for complete grey coverage, or to lighten the base hair colour by up to three levels. It’s important to note that tint does not lift tint if the hair has been previously coloured, and a hair lightening technique would then be needed to lighten it.
  2. Quasi-permanent colour is used to stay on the same base and to add tone, or to darken the natural hair colour. It can also be used to cover up to 70% of white hair for a guest if required.
  3. Colour Melt and Colour & Foils: this is the combination of hair colouring and hair lightening, where a base colour is applied to the roots with either lighter pieces painted through the ends, or foiled technique used at the roots.
  4. Toning & Glossing: a hair toner will and or change the tone in hair, whilst lightening services will reveal the undercoat of the hair. A hair toner will also close down the cuticle and add shine.

At NOCO Hair, we also have a bespoke ‘Signature Soft Blend’ technique which ensures the most seamless hair colour from root to tip, and a super-soft grow out. We use a special toning technique for this, and is perfect if a guest wants to be really blonde but doesn’t want high maintenance for the look.

In terms of timings and costs for our hair lightening and hair colouring services in Clifton, the following guidelines are a useful starting point:

  1. Root Touch-up: every 4-6 weeks, starting from £45 with 30-minute application and covers grey hair.
  2. All-over Colour: every 6-8 weeks, starting from £65, with 45-minute application.
  3. Highlights: every 6-8 week, starting from £75, with 45-minute application and camouflages grey hair.
  4. Balayage: every 12 weeks or more, starting from £100, with one-hour application.

As leading hair colouring experts in Bristol, many of our guests come to us looking for the best balayage in Clifton – and at NOCO Hair, we don’t disappoint.

For new guests visiting us for balayage hair colouring, one of their first questions is often why are your Clifton balayage services so popular – and we offer the following reasons.

When it comes to new trends in hair colouring, balayage is essentially an upgraded version of classic hair highlighting, with some magic thrown in.

Balayage is a French hair colouring technique, utilising the freehand application of colour placement. It’s a highly skilled hair colour method.

Our Clifton balayage service focuses on three different styles, namely:

  1. Strand lights
  2. Face framing
  3. Airtouch balayage

We deliver signature colour techniques, and train each staff member in-salon. The focus on each and every balayage hair colour at NOCO Hair is on blending, and delivering seamless colouring and quality for our guests.

Airtouch balayage, for example, has become one of our most popular bayalage hair colouring services in Clifton, and gives guests safe hair colouring, stronger hair, and a low maintenance but stunning new hair colour.

The Airtouch technique used by our Clifton hair colouring team uses air instead of backcombing, to create a seamless blend of colour. By taking a section of hair with tension on the longest lengths, a hair dryer is used to push the shorter hair and internal layers down and out of the way.

Colour or lightener is then applied on the remaining hair, giving blended colour with natural-looking effect that will survive grow-out. The key difference with our Airtouch balayage hair colouring service is the sectioning and the use of a hair dryer. The results are incredibly natural, and our guests love it.

Strandlights are the evolution of babylights, and our Clifton hair colouring team are getting more requests from guests for this technique and styling. They require far less hair density, and are designed to mimic a bright, natural hairline with hints of light. They also have zero horizontal grow-out.

Strandlights are a low-maintenance hair colouring option for guests who want a low-maintenance look that still transitions their hair colour from Summer to Autumn. This is perfect for detailing a balayage or touching up highlights.

Strandlights can accommodate blending in grey hair, and is a hair colouring service that can comfortably last for up to four months between salon visits.

Face framing highlights are tied closely to balayage hair colouring techniques at our Clifton hair salon, because it’s a great way to add brightness around the face whilst also boosting the hair colour and facial features.

Face framing is a simple way to add to any look, regardless of the face shape, haircut or hair colour. It’s low-maintenance too, so guests can either let the highlights grow into the hair, or boost the colour over time.

We’ll be offering guests free hair colour consultations for a limited time during September and October, so please keep an eye out for these on our website.

The management team at award-winning Whiteladies Road salon NOCO Hair are super-excited to announce the launch of a unique hair consultation service in Clifton.

Called Beautiful You, this unique hair consultation is now included with all services in-salon, and is an in-depth examination of a guest’s hair condition, follicle integrity, face shape, and can identify issues such as hair loss.

As leading Clifton hairdressers, we’re seeing more new guests coming to us with a cut or hair colour that has gone wrong – and it’s usually down to a bad hair consultation. Our Beautiful You hair consultation eliminates this problem.

Our hair consultations in Clifton are always carried out face-to-face and not at the salon chair. This is to give a guest the full attention they deserve during their hair consultation, as well as allowing us to take notes for their benefit.

Too often, we hear that a hair consultation in Bristol means no more than asking “What are we doing today, then?” just before the haircut begins.

Beautiful You is totally different to this, and our hair consultation service offers a full examination, diagnosis of the guest’s hair, as well as a prescription with recommendations to improve hair condition and the best haircut for that guest.

Our hair consultation will also highlight the best conditioning and styling products for a guest to use on their individual hair, as well as showing them how their face shape, eye size, shoulder width and jawline all influence the way a hairstyle will look on them. We provide full details for every guest.

For example, a soft jawline is well-suited to a haircut that utilises a defined line and shape, whilst a hard jawline suits a longer, softer hairstyle.

We also examine hair strand thickness, as well as the amount of follicles in the scalp using a scalp camera to get really close during a hair consultation. This can help to identify issues such as hair loss, which could be a temporary problem due to stress.

Whilst our Clifton hairstylists aren’t tricologists, we’re experienced hair professionals and can recommend the best hair care regimes for our guests.

We also examine hair type, hair condition, hair strand density, neck length, and a number of other factors during our Beautiful You hair consultation service in Clifton. We’ve copyrighted this unique new service, because it contains decades of Bristol hairdressing expertise and hair industry inputs.

With July rapidly approaching, the team at NOCO Hair have had clients getting in touch asking what happens with hair colouring in Clifton from 04th July with the new Covid-19 regulations in place.

Our Whiteladies Road hair colouring experts have been putting together guidelines to help guests feel welcomed and ready to get more of our incredible hair colouring services in a Covid-secure Bristol hair salon.

We’re hoping to be re-opening our Clifton salon from 04th July, subject to it being safe to do so, and having gained approval, and with that in mind, we’ve got a few changes in place to ensure our stylists and guests are totally safe.

These hair colouring service changes around Covid-19 will include:

  1. The New Normal – we’re working really hard in the run-up to July, to put measures in place at our Whiteladies Road salon, to ensure your peace of mind during your visit. Although NOCO Hair will look a bit different, and we can’t serve you a frothy coffee anymore, we promise that the standard of hair colour service you receive from Corey, Noel and the team will not be compromised.
  2. Our promise to you – we are committed to giving guests a salon experience that can be enjoyed safely. How the NOCO Hair team makes you feel has always been our top priority, and as an award-winning Bristol salon, we’re going to make sure that appointments don’t feel clinical. We’ll be guiding guests throughout each step of the hair colouring journey, as always.
  3. Refresh & Revamp – Some guests will want to get rid of the grey, whereas others will want a big change. Maybe now is the time to consider something different, such as moving from a full head of highlights to a balayage, and embrace a more lived-in look post-lockdown. Or, alternatively, to add some new highlights to frame your face and provide new life to your hair.
  4. A Special Feeling – hair is an important part of how your feel about yourself, and getting hair done is often the pampering and ‘pick-me-up’ guests need. As a leading Clifton hair salon, we’re here to make that happen for you, and our hair colouring services will give you something to feel good about again.
  5. Colour Focus Salon – NOCO Hair works with passion, knowledge, and offers a bespoke hair colour service for every guest. We have two L’Oreal Colour Specialists in our Bristol salon, and our focus is to give guests beautifully-blended colours. NOCO Colour equals beauty and quality.
  6. Ongoing education in lockdown – we’ve also been brushing up on our knowledge in-salon, to ensure we’re ready to deal with the results of three months of no salon time, DIY hair colouring at home, and six-inch roots.
  7. Online consultations – NOCO Hair now offers online hair colour consultations in Bristol, so that we can assess your hair, manage your expectations, and come up with a service plan prior to your booking. This offers an alternative to coming into the salon before your hair colouring appointment. Skin patch test kits are also now available to be sent to you, so you can do them at home.

To find out about our latest News about hair colouring in Clifton, please visit here.

With July 04th soon to be here, and hairdressers across Bristol hopefully re-opening their doors, the entire team at NOCO Hair are committed to offering you a Covid-safe Clifton hair salon.

Our main concern, of course, is to provide a completely clean and safe environment for both our Whiteladies Road hairstylists and our lovely guests from 04th July and beyond.

It’s really important to us here at NOCO Hair for our guests to feel special and to enjoy an amazing in-salon experience with us. The last thing we want is for any guest appointment to feel daunting, and so we wanted to take some time here to outline some of the recommended measures we’re putting in place.

There’s a new salon layout: we’ve re-positioned our styling stations to allow us to increase the distance between each guests to the required amount.

We will have a new guest welcoming protocol, involving a cleansing zone and hand-washing facilities in the side room that was previously our Beauty Room.

We’re now unable to serve you refreshments, but there will be self-service bottles of water available in-salon for each guest when they visit us.

The NOCO Hair reception area will be fitted with a glass screen, to protect you and our team, and we’ll be preferring to take card not cash payments. All card machines will be disinfected and sanitised before and after each use.

Our Covid-safe Clifton hair salon has introduced new cleaning measures, to ensure thorough sanitisation in-salon between each guest visit. Each stylist will have their own cleaning tray in their trolley, to allow them to thoroughly disinfect all tools and equipment, as well as their styling station, before and after each guest visit. High-traffic salon areas will be regularly disinfected.

Adjustments have been made to our booking system, too, to allow us to spread out appointments, reducing waiting times, and allowing us to thoroughly clean in-salon between each guest visit.

We will be changing staff rotas, and ensuring that there is no over-crowding.

Staff training on new procedures including PPE will be introduced, and it is likely that the minimum requirement for staff will be gloves and face mask. This will be confirmed further to ongoing government advice being updated.

Partition dividers have been fitted between each backwash sink in the salon, and we have changed to disposable and bio-degradable towels for all guests.

There will be glass partition screens at each styling station, to extend the barrier between guests and further reduce the risk of virus droplets in-salon.

We’ve introduced temperature checks for all NOCO Hair staff and guests, as well as a ‘Stay Home’ policy, so if you’re feeling unwell or someone in your household is unwell, please stay at home and self-quarantine.

The above measures are subject to ongoing government guidelines, and are subject to change. For example, we may need to provide all guests with PPE, floor stickers maintaining a two-metre social distancing policy in-salon, as well as additional hand sanitizers at styling stations.

We’ll keep all guests informed as the rules and regulations develop, of course.

There will also be an upcoming NOCO Hair video once all of our PPE has arrived, so that we can show you what new client journey will look like.

Finally, the entire team here at NOCO Hair would like to reassure our current and new guests that we are fully committed to providing you all with a Covid-safe Clifton hair salon, and many more award-winning hair salon experiences.
