Where the name comes from
NOCO is Noel and Corey.
Two hairdressers. One idea.
NOCO Hair was founded by Noel Halligan and Corey Taylor on Whiteladies Road in Clifton. The name is simple. NO from Noel, CO from Corey. A lot of people assume it is Japanese. It is not. But it fits surprisingly well with what we do.
When we opened, the design was our own. White walls, shades of grey, pastel accessories. Clean, functional, and ours. It worked. But when Interior Design Masters came to us, everything changed.
As seen on BBC One
Interior Design Masters.
Two days. One transformation.
When BBC One approached us for Interior Design Masters, the brief was not just about aesthetics. The production team asked us a lot of questions about how we wanted our clients to feel. That is where our key quote came from.
“You came in a taxi. You’re leaving in a limo.”
We knew we wanted the salon to feel Zen inside a bustling environment. Designer Jack Kinsley took the Scandi direction we kept describing and fused it with Japanese principles to create what he called Japandi. A cross between Japanese and Scandinavian design that nobody had used to describe a salon before.
One of the hero features is the wash basin area. Clients sit at the basins for long periods during colour work, so Jack painted a mural across the walls and ceiling so they are never just staring at a blank surface. It is one of the most commented-on parts of the salon. All of it was completed in two days to make it TV ready.
The essence of what Jack created is still very much here. We have made small tweaks over time but the panelling, the texture, the different zones, the softening of the space and the feeling it creates are all still intact. We absolutely love it. And judging by the reviews, so do our clients.

The Japandi transformation
From white and grey
to something we love
The salon before BBC Interior Design Masters was clean and functional. What Jack Kinsley created in two days is something we are proud of every single day.
What our clients say
In their own
words
“Sereena took time to understand what I wanted from the cut and helped me compare products to use between washes. She explained what she was going to do and why and made sure that I agreed before starting. My cut was a lovely experience from start to finish.”
S White
“The salon has such a warm, relaxed feel, and the care and attention that went into my cut really showed. I left feeling refreshed from the amazing head massage. So happy with my hair. Can’t recommend highly enough.”
Amy K
“I was completely overstimulated by the thought of finding someone to trust to cut my hair after going to the barbers for years and being unsatisfied. That was until I came to NOCO. I’m extremely satisfied and won’t ever look back.”
Ajay B
“Codie is a magician with colour. Every time my previous hairdresser dyed my hair back to brunette it just went orange again. She has genuinely brought my confidence back. So appreciative and will be booking forever.”
Martha B
“Best hair colour and cut I have ever had. Had several people compliment my hair on the walk home to Clifton. Very flattering and has never happened before. 100% recommend this team.”
J P-C
“I’ve been to NOCO three times and every time I leave feeling super happy with the results. I always get what I ask for. She makes you feel taken care of and listened to. I highly recommend this place.”
